This Floating Strap certainly saves your camera and provides piece of mind. Granted the PT-043 underwater housing floats and the Stylus 1030 camera is water proof to several feet; you don't want to accidently drop the camera off the side of a dive boat and then have it sink to where it gets damaged. The fact that it's red (or any other color - yellow/orange) makes it highly visible on the surface of water in the day or at nite. Great to have and easily attaches to the camera. Didn't think my camera-bag would be complete without it. Now I know I won't be unable to snap pictures and short video underwater because I've lost the camera to the deep.
